Yeah, yeah.  Quit bitching about my not putting the price in up there.  I don't want numbers to persuade or dissuade you in regards to this light.

This is one of those products where I honestly had no expectations good or pad.  I've caught crap in the past about lights "not being "Surefire".  Hey, I own 2 Surefires.  They're quality lights, but not everyone wants or can drop the premium price of an SF.  I've received letters from several LE folks reinforcing that fact.  Because we love LE personnel, we're going to make even more effort suggesting alternatives to the big name brands that typically come to mind.  This EagleTac is such a light.

The length isn't much different from the E2D as you can see.  The head is certainly bigger.  Tube diameter...not a whole lot.  It's still very comfortable in my hand and fits fine in the magazine pocket of my 5.11 tactical pants.  It doesn't feel at all like some Fisher Price toy.   It's solid.  The weight balance is pretty good without much of a bias.

The tail end has a mild crenelation to pummel a perp if need be.  It doesn't look like much, but it is tapered on the inside.  The tailcap is a clicky switch which has a nice and positive click.  You can do the standard on/off and also momentary.

Now before you get all uppity about the pictures further up and look at the mild crenelations in the tail...yes, you can have the light with a crenelated head.  It's optional but is included with the excellent accessory kit that comes with the light.  The metal crown screws in to the threaded edges of the head.  It does stay in there pretty well.

Carry Clip holds well.

The workmanship is really nice and is treated to an HAIII anodization. If you look closely, you can see an o-ring on the tube as this light is rated at IPX-8 which means that it's water-tight under immersion for 30 minutes under 8 feet of water.

The power selection control.

Getting down to business...the light source.  The 2 CR123 batteries drive a CREE XR-E Q5 LED.  The lumen count is 295 on high and 60 on low.  Seems that a lot of manufacturers like to toot their own horn with these ratings.  However, I do believe EagleTac.  Thiis damn light is bright on high mode.  I went banging at a neighbors door while shining through the door and he thought it was one of those big high powered lights.  The claimed runtime is 1.2 hours on high and 10 hours on low.

The accessory is a nice one.  Along with the head crenelation, you get a pouch, lanyard, extra rubber clicky cover and a bunch of replacement o-rings.

Now for the price.  How much would you expect to pay for  a 300 lumen light?  I'd expect to spend a lot.  This?  MSRP is $68.  Damn it!  Nice, or what?

We're currently working on a testing procedure to compare the light beams.  Give me maybe another 2 weeks to get that all together.   A lot of you have asked for long term impressions of the products that I review.  Unfortunately, in most cases, I can't.  I'm all about abusing products, but more often than not, the item needs to go back.
